Scent:
Harmonious and complex. Intense and fruity with hints of small black fruits such as blueberry and spices, among which black pepper is evident. Varietal typicality of Syrah. Light notes of roasting and menthol nuances.

Longevity:
The Sassi-Cayas 2022 will reach its full potential from spring 2025 and will retain these characteristics until 2035 and beyond if stored in optimal conditions. Best if uncorked one hour before consumption.

Taste:
Fresh and strong attachment. It has a good structure and is well balanced with ripe and sweet tannins of excellent quantity and quality. A good sapidity accompanies the very long and persistent finish.

This wine, the Sassi-Cayas, is a fine example of the collaboration between two Swiss winemaking traditions. It combines the passion and experience of two family businesses, Gialdi Vini from Mendrisio in Ticino and Domaine Jean-René Germanier from Vétroz in Valais, who share a love of the terroir and a quest for excellence. The wine is a blend of Merlot and Syrah, made from a selection of 13 Sassi Grossi 2022 barriques and the same number of Cayas 2022 barriques, carefully chosen for specific wood characteristics to highlight the special attributes of Merlot and Syrah from the two cantons south of the Alps. The result is a robust, complex and intriguing wine that reflects the synergy between the two terroirs, combining the depth and suppleness of the Ticino Merlot with the power and character of the Valais Syrah. Definitely a bottle that embodies tradition, friendship and outstanding quality. The two wines were blended on 5 July 2024 in Mendrisio and bottled on 29 July 2024. 7,800 bottles of this wine were produced – 1,300 cases of 6 btls.
